You might even have mushrooms beginning to grow straight on the plate: yeah, it’s a fun novelty but it’s not actually that useful, and is a bit of a waste of your resources.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAnd that exact scenario is what agar slants were designed to solve! There’s the same amount of nutritious agar, but it takes longer for the mycelium to access, which means it’ll stay alive for much longer. The slanted angle also means that any condensation runs down the side of the slant and doesn’t just pool on top of your mycelium, which makes this particular form factor absolutely ideal for long-term fridge storage. Use these, and you can have a whole load of mushroom genetics ready to grow, at the time that suits you best.
